JS GLOBAL GROUP
What is Abandoned Cargo?
Cargo is classed as abandoned when it remains unclaimed, unpaid for, or neglected beyond the period allowed by the port, shipping line, or customs authority. This typically occurs when storage or customs fees go unpaid, the consignee fails to collect the goods, or the shipper disclaims responsibility. In some cases, the contents may also be deemed unsafe, expired, or unsuitable for sale. Once declared abandoned, the cargo and container fall under official control and must be handled in accordance with strict regulatory and environmental standards. JS Global Group work closely with ports, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs to manage abandoned cargo swiftly, securely, and responsibly - ensuring compliance, full traceability, and zero waste to landfill.

There are very limited numbers of companies that can offer solutions from ‘cradle to grave’ and whilst there are a number of large National Waste Management companies that can offer various disposal services, they will often only offer the solutions available within their own organisation which may not be competitive or indeed support the waste producer’s environmental obligations such as eliminating landfill and reducing Co2 / Carbon Reduction
